The Cardassians have worked out a secret deal with the Dominion to rule over a planet of hologram beings. Boket juggles his responsibilities while Aster and Tamura prod at the plan. 

During the ancient Earth holiday known as "Halloween," Cmdr. Aster rallies his senior officers to celebrate. To do so, they participate in a holosuite program designed by the Wadi, a Gamma Quadrant species with a knack for elaborate games.

While inspecting the station's specialized shuttlecraft, the USS Kestrel, a gigantic multi-limbed statue appears near DSX. Claimants challenge Cmdr. Aster for the object, including the Ferengi merchant Rankle. Dr. Tamura and Gul Boket fight for answers.
