Rolf has a pleasant Kansas twang to his voice, and his conversations range from travel stories, musings, tips, to non-travel topics that push a more nuanced view of the world. Highly recommend! Also, highly recommended to read his book Vagabonding.

Deviate is my favorite travel podcast. Rolf is a great host in several ways.

This used to be a wonderful pod, full of the wonder, beauty and adventure of travel. Now you just slog your latest book with tired diatribes against people who aren’t privileged enough to travel the way you do. Hope you get back to relevance

A mixed bag. Some shows are interesting. Others are dreadful.

I read Vagabonding years ago and was delighted to find Rolf is even better in his podcast than he was in the book. Much deeper thinking on the meaning of travel and travel writing than you will find anywhere else. I don’t do reviews and accidentally hit the one star button when I intended to...Read full review »

Vagabonding and Marco Polo Didn’t Go There inspired me on my first van trip years ago, the podcast has rekindled that inspiration and is an amazing source of insight!

I cannot imagine a greater podcast! Rolf is a fantastic, interesting and respectful host who cultivates enriching conversation and story again and again. I drove through Kansas not long ago and I was reminded of all that Rolf has bestowed upon me. Thank you Rolf.

To me, this podcast is finally hitting its stride. It seems like it took a little while for Rolf to get comfortable with this medium and find what works best, but now I think this show fills a void in the podcast universe without limiting itself to a niche. He has figured out how to deliver new,...Read full review »

Rolf's most recent episode with Tod Goldberg is a wonderfully entertaining romp down memory lane for those of us who recall the relative scarcity of NFL information and memorabilia pre-Internet age. Thank you, Rolf and Tod, for setting this year's Super Bowl in an interesting...Read full review »

Less about what to see when traveling and more about how to travel. Really interesting and thought provoking.

Once again I’m amazed by the high quality of this show. Rolf has a special knack of drawing out thoughtful gems from the minds of his guests, most especially from writers. You got That Thing Rolf: keep it up! And thank you!

I’m glad the message was received to have more shows around travel experiences. I gave it the 5 stars for the thread with Ari and the cliffhanger for this new season with the details of your experience with psychedelics teased at the end of last season.

I discovered this podcast after finishing up Rolf's excellent book Vagabonding, and it was an immediate hit with me. It would have been easy for him to do a 100% travel based podcast, but he subverts this expectation with as wide a range of guests and topics as I've seen. For any...Read full review »

I immedately jumped on this podcast once it was recommended by Tim Ferriss. I read Vagabonding by Rolf when it was recommended by Tim, and it was a superb book. So when this podcast came out I knew I'd have to check it out. It's been great. Nice to have a podcast that takes a...Read full review »
