Tragedy told compassionately
Materese discusses tragedies with the eye of a historian. She explains the causes of a variety of disasters and their human toll without becoming ghoulish of being exploitative. Every few weeks she decompressed while watching a horrid disaster film with a bottle of wine, which I hope is beneficial for her mental health. Definitely worth a subscription.

I would love this podcast if the podcaster worked with a voice coach a bit. The rise and fall and underlying tone of her voice leaves us to sense that she feels as if SHE were there to do things right, (Her way) no such disaster would happen. It's easy to tsk tsk in hindsight.Read full review »

The host definitely does her research and the variety of disasters chosen thus far has been an excellent mix of older disasters and more recent disasters. The amount of information included about the time periods each disaster takes place in is fascinating and adds an interesting amount of depth...Read full review »
