This still continues to be one of the most well-researched and interesting podcasts out there. Keep it up, Jake! You rock!

This is such a compelling series and Jake Brennan is a brilliant narrator. The stories are excellent and the writing is amongst the best out there. Love this series way more than any preset loop from a melotron.

This has quickly become one of my favorite podcasts. As a writer and storyteller myself, I have to say that I am really inspired and impressed by the excellent work!

Love your style of storytelling and the way of blending the characters together. Please, do a show on 3-6 mafia. If you haven’t already done. Keep up the good work 😀😀😀😀😀

I always look forward to these episodes. I’ve heard all of them! SO many stories I have never heard. Highly recommend!!!

The stories are interesting. The attempts at noir-ish writing are self-parody.

Jake Brennan’s enthusiasm for and depth of knowledge of his subjects shines through, and I LOVE the way he writes and presents. If you enjoy this podcast try Dead and Gone - you won’t be disappointed.

I enjoy the show, but that intro each episode with the bit about the bad mellotron clip is so annoying! Please, please , please consider retiring it. For the love of God!

You have reawakened in me the fascinating backstories of the great pop musicians of my lifetime. Such a fabulous series!!!!!!

By far my favorite podcast!! I love music and the stories of the musicians told by Jake!! He gets your attention, then retains and entertains it!! He does this so well with me that my inter spoiled child gets a little sad when I figure out he’s wrapping up an episode!! Rock on Jake!!

The podcast that proves that stardom isn’t what it’s cracked up to be - which is a disgrace.

Truly one of the best podcasts out there. Great content, taste and style of story telling. ☺️

Very well written and entertaining. Great way to hear their stories! Love it! Keep them coming!

What a shame, this podcast could be great, if it weren’t for the constant annoying sound effects and repeating dialogue. The stories stand on there own, and are great, but as it is I can’t listen to this podcast because of all the unnecessary distracting crap layered on top the the dialogue.

I was listening to too much news, politics. I had to stop. I LOVE music and love hearing about ridiculous musician stories almost as much. You are a great writer and your delivery is engaging. Not an easy thing to master as a podcaster. I’ve learned some very interesting things about the people...Read full review »

Always enjoy the show and the writing is top notch. Lately, tho, I find it really hard to focus on the voiceover because the background sounds are too loud. I listen with headphones and just gave up on the GNR episode (pt. 2) because I simply couldn’t focus on the 2 competing sound streams at...Read full review »

I am normally waaaayyy to lazy to be doing reviews lol but I couldn’t help it this time. That was an amazing story and the best twist plot twist ever in podcast history(the Jim Morrison story)!!!! I suppose while I’m making this review I’ll also mention that every last bit of your story telling...Read full review »

A living legend Do a podcast on him. He’s my neighbour but he’s not too sociable. We live in a lovley spot in Co. down but he is not too friendly. I love your podcast. He is probably the only living legend we have. Adore his music. Love your podcast too. Many thanks Avril

Interesting, at times. The word salads are unpalatable more times than not.

Every episode I experience leaves me wanting more but appreciating the respect and restraint that is used in each glimpse of an artist’s life.

How has this person not been sued out of existence? Nothing but rumours and innuendo.

Love the show. I found it a little weird that Eminem was the only artist (for episodes I have listened to) where you needed to preface the fact that you didn’t like his music or consider it great in the preamble. Why did ‘Em get this treatment exclusively? All good either way - just don’t sit...Read full review »

Hopefully you can find the lyrics in the Grateful Dead show that you never been to but you talk so much about like you’ve been to one!!!

The content is well researched and the host has a good voice, but they can’t help themselves from going on long, drawn out narratives that they may think add to the tale, but really takes the listener out of the story. I’ve listened to a few and have found myself, at least once an episode,...Read full review »

Just found this and have been listening everyday! Would be cool to do stories on Van Halen, KISS, OZZy of course! Aerosmith, Robert Johnson, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Chili Peppers, to name just a few ideas. Can’t wait to hear more.

For me this is the best podcast. Jake is a fantastic presenter and always interesting even when talking about people I’ve never heard of.
Jahor88 via Apple Podcasts · Great Britain · 03/19/23
My only complaint is they are short but incredibly interesting. After every episode I alway hope for a part two. These are told in a way that feels like your listening to a friend’s stories. Cannot recommend enough. Also check out Badlands which is more focused off Hollywood

And I am not exaggerating. Jake is an excellent storyteller. Music is my oxygen. I love learning about the people behind the tunes. Thanks for sharing your mellifluous voice, Jake!

I discovered podcast by accident and I have been addicted to the series, binge listening to each and every episodes with headphones on. Its that good. I was late to the party, but I’ve been listening for a few years now, and I’m obviously hooked. What a gift to go back to Episode 1 on Jerry Lee Lewis with its re-release.
