DLC
Great Show on Games, and I’m not a gamer.
I am a big fan of 5by5 and generally try out any of the new shows that they put out. There’s a level of quality in hosts and production value that means it’s always worth a shot. I tried out DLC only for this reason, not being sure what the show was really going to be about. An hour and forty minutes is a lot of show for a topic I’m not that invested in. DLC kept me completely engaged for two critical reasons: 1) The hosts are excellent. They know how to separate out the wheat from the chaff and were able to remind me that I am interested in video games and the industry, just not the heavy dose of cruft that typically comes along with the coverage. 2) Effective use of call-in. There are few podcasts that are broadcast live and even fewer with the infrastructure, interest, and listenership to make calls work. Jeff and Christian got great callers, but more importantly, they used calls well. They asked great prompts, kept calls relatively short, and used the listeners to deepen areas of previous conversation or jump into new conversations that kept the show feeling fresh and kept the pace up. Jeff and Christian must listen to good radio and be fans of good radio, because they handled this like veterans. Call-ins even on week one were sufficient to extend the quality and length of the show. I am definitely subscribing and looking forward to learning more about games each week.

This show is no exception. Jeff stands out in an industry full of cynicism and Christen Spicer...Read full review »

I’m a long time fan of Jeff Cannata and Christian Spicer, following their work on TRS, Weekend Confirmed, Double Jump etc and am over the moon that they’re presenting their own podcast. Listened to the first episode on my daily commute today and it was a ton of fun. I think the live calls that...Read full review »
