First and last episode I will listen to.
The first (and last) episode I will listen to of this podcast is episode 66 (Guts, Periods and Hormones w/Robyn Nohling). I am VERY disappointed by the demeaning and derogatory nature of the way the hosts belittled the debilitating nature of medically diagnosed IBS. It was suggested in the episode that the symptoms were not serious and that anyone who is placed on a low FODMAP diet for their IBS is uniformed. In fact the low FODMAP diet has worked for so many people and the education level of the hosts should be questioned when they mentioned that “only steak” can be eaten on the low FODMAP diet. Clearly they haven’t informed themselves about it enough to comment. They also assured that the diet is “not sustainable” but if they had done their research they would know that the low FODMAP diet is TEMPORARY while you eliminate specific sugars from your diet to elleviate your symptoms, then reintroduce the sugars (one at a time) to lead a more balanced life if you can tolerate the sugars. I could continue to go on but as you can see I am VERY unhappy with the unprofessional nature of the hosts. I completely agree that the vagus nerve and the gut-brain axis play a role in our digestion BUT it is irresponsible to discredit the IBS and it’s impact on people’s lives. SO GLAD YOU BOTH AREN’T MY DOCTORS!! WOW.
