Centering and Engrossing- a must read / listen
I have listened to this series many times over the years. In this hectic world filled with negatives and just so much STUFF going on, this series just helps me settle and recover. It is easy to get lost in this “future” and relate to the life and struggles of Ishmael. He is a beacon to help us with our own lives and struggles, or just to regain some trust in humanity again. This is such a down to earth story of “life” and of good - and the bad. It is not an action packed adventure, but there is action and adventure. It is not a romance but there is romance. It is not a mystery, but there is mystery and suspense, and it keeps you trying to “solve” the mystery . It is not a story to jostle your emotions, but you will “feel” and truly relate. I don’t want to give any of the story away, but the series keeps you just wanting to keep listening or reading to find out what’s next. I love fantasy, science fiction, action, mystery. I like Percy Jackson, Star Trek, Agatha Christie, The Gray Man, The Hobbit, and the like. This series, I don’t think, would normally fit into any of these kinds of genres and other than being set in the future in space. However, this story of just living a spacer’s life in the deep dark keeps me engrossed in the lives of the characters. Give it a couple chapters and you too will be wanting to find out what happens next. A very enjoyable, and centering story.

In a ship with a disfunctional captain and first mate he has to try to get the crew functioning as a whole, not an easy task. Once again Nathan has written a book that wil keep you up...Read full review »

darker tone than the first three books, which may make its subject matter uncomfortable for some. despite that still a top notch read if you can get through it.

Nathan is an expert story-teller, not only are his characters and stories rich and detailed, but his readings are so realistic it's like listening to a play. Double share unarguably has the most action of the traders tales but is still in keeping with the spirit of the characters? I'm in my...Read full review »
