“The premise initially piqued my interest, but the story quickly devolved into 2D characters lacking compelling voice and a plot that seems both derivative of previous such adventures and deeply ignorant of the deep sea and deep water exploration more generally. While good fiction does not require a subject matter expert, it should be aware of the most basic aspects of the system and informed by the settings providing the context. The had neither.”
