Definitely Human does it again with another knock out podcast. I’m slow to catch up on their shows but I binged this one in a few days. Loved the story and the production - this one had me stressed out and dying to know how it ended. I needed a good fictional podcast and this was just the thing!

Amazing mix of horror and humor. A must listen.

Any sort of tension was quickly undermined by out of place silliness. Could work as a parody but I ran out of patience.

I thought this was really well done, I’ve listened to the entire thing in just one sitting! The voice acting gets better as it goes on, and the acting is on par with a lot of other similar audio drama series. Not to mention that the story is very well done. The eldritch horror aspects don’t feel...Read full review »

Somewhat fun, but basically overdone tropes delivered with too much drama to take seriously.

It’s an entertaining story. The production is top notch, as well as the acting.
_meds_ via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 12/30/22
Acting is awful, on par with community theater. Actors play stereotypes, giving no depth at all to their characters. Sound design is uninvolving. I don’t know whether the story turned out to be good, since I couldn’t get through the first episode.

I liked all of it. Story very interesting
kojack girl via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 12/09/22
It was a good plot and story line but the actors over acting was pretty bad. One character is calm cool and collective and the next second he’s having a meltdown like a 13 year old and don’t forget the captain he was so annoying. The length of episodes where just ridiculous. Majority of them...Read full review »

This could have been so much better. There’s very few ppl sounding like they are on a very high tech mission in the most advanced sub on the planet. The one thing that’s really burying this is captain pugwash. He’d be better off in charge of a one man toy sub so he can argue with himself all day...Read full review »

I thought this concept was super cool! But I was hoping for more science and action while this was more people’s reactions to situations…not my jam. I couldn’t make it to the end.

I usually have no problems with unlikable characters but this podcast keeps painfully forcing their conflict. It makes the characters act so laughably unprofessional, immature and incapable of sensible rational thinking that it doesn’t fit the premise. These are supposed to be expert professional...Read full review »

I listened to all 24 episodes, hoping it would get to the good stuff, but it just goes nowhere. The ending had to have been written on a cocktail napkin after a long night of drinking on an empty stomach, because it was totally pointless.
mattsmith0622 via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 08/02/22
After listening all through, the plot feels like a SparkNotes mixup of late-90s sci-fi classics like “The Core” and “Sphere” and “The Abyss” with a dash of Dante Alighieri for philosophical seasoning. Enjoyable and well produced, but a tad derivative — and confusing in its episodic format.
Ag14Spirit via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 07/30/22
The robot voice at beginning and end of the episode literally hurts, would be sooo much better without it.
Ghjvcdsf via Apple Podcasts · Great Britain · 07/28/22
A promising plot idea, very poorly written out, a sondscape of practically no background -you can literally see the soundbits being dragged across a timeline- all foreground. Semantically flat characters right out of a writing course, an annoying alleged "AI"voice, making me wanting to...Read full review »

This show really got under my skin in a weird way I didn’t expect. It was pretty ooky spooky and creeped me out. The ending made me feel really desperate and I didn’t expect that at the beginning

Good story, good voice actors, but to get 8 minutes of content you were forced to hear 4 mintutes of comercials, intros more comercials and then the outro. It just ruined the flow of the narrative. I am done subscribing to any more short episodes. Its just greedy content providers that do this.

I like when a horror podcast has a slow build. This one did just that and watching the chaos unfold was extremely entertaining

Absolutely amazing concept!! Can’t wait to see where the story goes! Would love to see a prequel story where it eventuates in S1 and then obviously where our characters go after S1!

very good story and interesting characters, but it lacked some depth (no pun intended). The characters didn’t have much beyond their initial role and the hole thing with Marion’s brother felt tacked on. The ending was a bit confusing and anticlimactic, with a lot of questions still unanswered. I...Read full review »

It was good. Like nothing amazing. Nothing terrible. Acting was good. Music was cool. Don’t know to much about realm but I’ll check out more. I guess I’d say the ending could have been better. And I was a bit confused at times. Like what exactly was it? Don’t wanna give it away also, but ya.a...Read full review »

This show was spooky, and visceral, and I devoured it in two days. Really powerful voice acting, sound design, and super interesting story. I felt the horrible “watching a train wreck” curiosity and an inability to look away as the characters descended into the bottomless pit, and the situation...Read full review »

The great thing is that each episode is so short, so I did not notice how much time I spent on this. Listened to it on a long train ride, and that was ok. The longer it goes on, the more I stopped to care about any of the people, let alone the entity. So many interesting hints and ideas just...Read full review »

Great story though somewhat confusing and left open, for season 2? There is far too much sarcasm and arguing, there is never a moment where there isn’t snark or bickering and it does grow tiresome. Though the story line does enough to keep me listening.
Pf private hive via Apple Podcasts · Australia · 04/07/22
It took me awhile to figure out who the characters were and connecting to their names. The men all sounded the same and they didn’t call each other by name, so often I didn’t know who was saying what, especially in the beginning. Also it was less sci fi and more just bickering. Not that enjoyable.
Oshima_San via Apple Podcasts · Canada · 04/05/22

Even though the episodes are weirdly short and there is this high pitched ‘sound effect’ used during many of the episodes which pierces your skull, I hung in for all 24 episodes. First of all. Pro tip: skip one minute into every episode to miss that voice saying “definitely human” twice at the beginning and do the same at the end to avoid the painfully slow end credits. This should definitely be compiled into a feature length episode. It’s good fun, some interesting plot...Read full review »

I got into Definitely Human with The Bunker, and I also theroughly enjoyed the Infinite Bad. As a big fan of lovecraftian horror and sci fi I LOVED this series! The premise initially piqued my interest, but the story quickly devolved into 2D characters lacking compelling voice and a plot that seems both derivative of previous such adventures and deeply ignorant of the deep sea and deep water exploration more generally. It started off amazing and what I thought was a climax would only turn out to be just absolutely horrible writing I can’t believe I gave my time to this trash.

This show was super cool! I love deep-sea sci-fi & horror movies & shows, so a podcast fit right in! I listened to the whole thing while I worked! Sometimes the music transitions were a little loud, and the use of industrial music was a little funny, but overall I dig this podcast!
