Views Discussed Are Not Empirically Based
Dr. Leaf comes across as passionate and sincere about wanting to help people. Sadly, much of the information she shares is not rooted in the consensus of the scientific community, making it not only inaccurate, but harmful. One major example is her views on ADHD. She claims ADHD is over-diagnosed and not a legitimate mental health condition with no evidence to back up her assertion—and for which there exists mountains of scientific proof that ADHD is very real. Not only is spreading misinformation like this unethical, but it can deeply harm those who happen to have ADHD and deny it’s existence due to Dr Leaf’s baseless claims. It would be wise for listeners to approach Dr Leaf’s podcast exercising discretion and a healthy dose of skepticism. Better yet, go elsewhere to find factual info from respected sources that you can vet yourself.
