Not helpful.
I've read an article in a scientific American magazine which discussed how this kind of "therapy" doesn't work and often causes harm. The "just do it", authoritative directives simply don't solve any problems. Relentless blaming the victim with little or no understanding or exploration of their background or circumstance is abusive and solves nothing. Further this approach can dissuade people with serious problems who need real help from seeking appropriate support and intervention. Not to mention it's just simplistic and cruel. Then again this "doctor" (she's not actually a doctor) makes clear her show is about promoting her views not therapy. And hearing someone beaten up with "it's all your fault, you're so stupid and bad, do as I say now" makes for good car wreck kind of listening I suppose. I grew up listening to dr Laura. Admittedly she helped form my opinions of things, but I can't say I always agree with her. Listening to her helped my mother deal with the abusive parents she has.
