“Solid writing and sound design held back by the narrator's unconvincing and repetitive performance. I listened to a handful of episodes (both new and old), and while the writing nearly compelled me to keep going, the deadpan delivery used by the narrator in every single story made me give up. The core problem with the delivery is in the cadence. You can hear him reading off a script by the way he speaks, which breaks the immersion of most first-person narratives.
If you want a similar experience with better voice acting, give SCP Archives a shot. It isn't perfect by any means, but its cast has a wider range, and its narrators a (usually) stronger voice.”Read full review »
