BBC production- BBC censorship
What a brilliant format for telling this extraordinary tale of E and rave culture from the back end of the 80s. The podcast has some great contributors and the story is well told. However what REALLY bugged me was Warbuton’s deeply conservative overtones casting long shadows editorially over the content. In my experience, and that of my mates over 20 years of raving have never had a problem with ecstasy. And compared with the number of alcohol related deaths it’s fair to say E is a relatively safe drug. That’s not to say there aren’t deaths or lives and families are destroyed by E and the gang related culture behind it, but for Warburton to keep harping on, on this point is actually subverting the truth. I’d like to have heard a far more honest drugs debate particularly in regard to prohibition and and the law, and the impact on the lives of those working in the drugs business. I felt John was an excellent contributor, as was Danny yet their voices felt somewhat stifled by Warburton’s clearly establishment (BBC) conservative voice. I found this very frustrating as I think it gives people the wrong idea about this extraordinary (and wonderful) drug.

More reviews of Ecstasy: The Battle Of Rave
Really good podcast giving a decent overview of the rave scene and the associated drug scene.

Thoroughly absorbing story that’s has kept me entertained from start to finish. Marvellously written, superbly presented and memory evoking music. An outstanding series.

Amazing podcast giving a varied view of what to me was just somewhere to go and party. I didn’t realise all the behind the scene stuff going on, as all we wanted to do was party the night away.
