Captures the rave phenomenon really well. I was a music journalist in Manchester during he early ‘90s and knew some of the people interviewed. Great to hear their stories getting the audience they deserve. Cue smiley 🙂

What a brilliant format for telling this extraordinary tale of E and rave culture from the back end of the 80s. The podcast has some great contributors and the story is well told. However what REALLY bugged me was Warbuton’s deeply conservative overtones casting long shadows editorially over the...Read full review »

This is an excellently researched and presented podcast with lots of thoughtful and insightful responses. The mix of documentary and drama is unique and makes it a thoroughly enjoyable listen.

Enjoyed it in parts but turned into an anti drugs rant. Most people didn’t end up casualties of the scene.

Wow, just wow. Loved this podcast. So good to hear different stories from outside of London and also fascinating to hear how the drugs were being sourced. Overall superb delivery and a great balance from all sides. Awesome work Chris and the team!

Good info and interviews, especially having consumed lots of info about this era (I’m about ten years too young to have experienced it myself). Must admit, the drama episodes did nothing for me.

I was lucky enough to experience this period of time. It was the best and listening to this podcast is bringing back all the great memories of that time and what a time. The illegal parties were always the best. I travelled all over the country. What I would do now to experience one more night...Read full review »

Ok
Loved the production but would have been great if it had been told by someone who was really part of the scene instead of Chris.

As an early 2000’s clubber, I’d grown up in the Superclub era. It was great to hear about how it all started in the legacy late 80’s/early 90’s rave scene, directly from the people who created it. The passion and energy for the music and atmosphere in clubs all over the country that I...Read full review »

Amazing podcast giving a varied view of what to me was just somewhere to go and party. I didn’t realise all the behind the scene stuff going on, as all we wanted to do was party the night away.

Really enjoyed this. Too young to be there but really enjoyed listening to the various perspectives of the scene. Would love to hear more on the development of other music genres (DnB scene in Bristol and elsewhere, maybe?!).

Great insight, good interviews, hearing Amsterdam being involved and also the vibe and feeling that it communicates about these times, is a great way to understand the beautiful and dark side of the acid house...Read full review »

I’m 51 now & can recall the early days of acid house/Balearic as if it were yesterday. Too many of these docs focus on the negative aspect of the music revolution, such as drugs. Most of us got high - to help us dance for 12hours - but the violence that came later was always in the...Read full review »

Brilliant podcast! Even though based a little before my time it still took me back to my first experience with E’s and rave music. Was good to hear other people’s highs and lows from a time where it was probably in its prime. A proper nostalgia trip!!
