Wow! is all I can say. A wild, funny and original future crime thriller!
EDICT ZERO:FIS is a brand new podcast, a monthly hour long creation set on a colonized world far removed from our own, The story opens with a man with no eyes, and the bombing of a night club on new year's eve, set in a world where mysterious, mythical artififacts with almost religious significance come to bear in the bombing investigation by the FIS - think the FBI of this future colony. Jack Kincaid has used excellent guest voices and original music to create something wholly new: a police procedural of the future, marrying an X-Files feeling and sense of looming disaster with humorous, fleshed out characters and the mythology of a new world. Each of the three main characters are agents, brought together by a Director of the FIS help create a realistic world and realistic relationships that made me smile and listen carefully as we learned about them and their world through the witty dialogue that Kincaid gifts them. These three characters, two agents that are a former couple, and a third kooky, antisocial but brilliant investigator were brought together to the ends of investigating outlandish but possible reasons for a night club bombing. Things spiral into wierdness from there, but etched with characters we worry about and root for, and strangeness and bizarre humor that make for a rollercoaster right more varied and deftly handled than all but a handful of paid audio books or free podcasts available on the net today. I have enjoyed listening to audio drama podcasts, but this one by far takes the cake. Incredible plot, great production and soundscapes, phenomenal acting, emotional character development. You become a native in a new world from the first episode.
