Unintentionally Destructive
I love when pastors are expressive and unafraid to share their personal opinions. However, when those personal opinions are contrary to scripture, they should be clearly identified as personal opinions. My wife and I just adopted a little girl from China without knowing where the funds would come from ahead of time (exactly like the example Pastor Furtick used in Part 1 of his "God's Will Is Whatever" series). However, if we would have followed Pastor Furtick's very specific (and insulting) declaration that only people who have money available should adopt, our little girl would not be with us. If we can't trust in God to provide money in order to accomplish His will for us, what CAN we trust Him to do for us? Pastor Furtick's opinion not only undermines the church's understanding of faith, it also expresses an attitude that closes all but the richest people off to the possibility of adoption. There are plenty of great pastors that know how to check scripture before they express an ignorant opinion as fact, so I suggest subscribing to one of those podcasts instead of this one.Read full review »
