Seeing Behind the Musk
Historian and journalist Jill Lepore puts sci-fi fan and sometime billionaire-investor Musk in the context of his favourite genre and the ideas that continue to influence the soul of Silicon Valley. A fascinating history of ideas that takes in the role of apartheid, the man’s misunderstanding of Hitchiker’s Guide To The Galaxy, the Technocracy movement in the 1940s (an idea Musk’s grandfather was an avid proponent of) and the concept of “X” in Science and Mathematics. And that’s just Episode 1. Sure to irritate a few Musk fanboys (*ahem*) but also a balanced, BBC documentary, not a hatchet job. I for one didn’t know for instance about his successful Battery Farm in rural South Australia so credit where it’s due!

More reviews of Elon Musk: The Evening Rocket
Until “anti”-racist diatribe was shoehorned into more or less the entirety of episode 2. So; not really about rockets at all. I’m still inclined to give episode 3 a chance though; there is a lot to hold out for!
