Kathy's approach really resonates with me!
I've followed Kathy for a while, and I decided to start listening to her podcasts when she mentioned recently about her learning experience following a trip out to an open (and challenging) sheepdog trial. I've now listened to two episodes, and have been so inspired that I've subscribed and will be exploring more of Kathy's resources. My youngest collie, Raven (I saw Kathy also has a Raven!!), is the first dog I've decided to train purely for sheep work, having always been an agility competitor. I'm finding the whole sheepdog training world and its approach to training in the UK really, really different to everything I've ever come across in other dog sports, and the application of everything I have tried to translate from my understanding of learning theory (even though I used to work as a shepherd). I've been wondering whether it is even possible to come across from one mindset to the other. I'm feeling optimistic that the more I learn from Kathy, the happier I'll be with my partnership with Raven, so I don't let her down! So now I've subscribed, and will be playing podcasts non-stop while I work!! Thank you, Kathy!!Read full review »

I am really impressed with these podcasts. I am only 3 episodes in but I am loving the insights into dog behaviour that Kathy speaks about passionately.

Part of this could have been me telling my own story: the crappy childhood, a lifelong connection with dogs, training for years in a specific dog sport, and ultimately letting my goals and my competitiveness steal the joy from my relationships with these amazing creatures. I had no idea there was...Read full review »
