An Intellectual Oasis
This is probably my favourite podcast; it's witty but not silly, challenging but not abstruse, wide ranging in its scope yet focused and grounded in the humanities. I'm not an academic, yet I still find Robert Harrison's programme incredibly engaging and relevant to me as a lover of literature, philosophy and history. He doesn't make assumptions about the knowledge of his audience, but introduces beginners to the topic (also serving to refresh the memories of people acquainted with the key issues of the topic), and then increases the depth of the discussion throughout the hour. Whether you want an introduction to the humanities or would like to broaden and solidify the knowledge you already possess, this program if for you. I strongly recommend not only subscribing, but also downloading the entire back catalogue to enjoy whenever you have a spare hour.Read full review »
