Lives up to its name
"Escape Pod" reliably rescues me from whatever alien attacks or errant self-destruct devices are making the sirens go off at work, and launches me into another, very different world; this has become my favorite podcast. Steve and his guest narrators do a great job, and the stories are varied and thought-provoking. The intros and "outros" aren't long enough to get in the way, but are just long enough to give some background and some sense of community. Steve's wit and sincerity come through, and before long it feels like you're getting together with an old friend. A few of the podcasts finish with some apropos and very entertaining songs; I've had "Merry Christmas from Chiron Beta Prime" stuck in my head for months now.Read full review »
