“I’ve purchased the Numenera books and am obsessed, but have not been able to play yet. I sampled both video recordings and podcasts all over the net, looking for the most engaging GM and the coolest cast to familiarize myself with actual gameplay. I stopped looking when I found Explorers Wanted. I’m coming up on “The One That Left” (July 22, 2020) and have had a blast listening.
Daniel’s creativity and style of co-creation with the crew have been inspiring. It has been decades since I’ve GM’ed, but his sense of humor, facility with what is basically a new system for me, and his ability to smoothly interweave multiple story arcs has made me want to try it too! I am more than a little in love with the cast as well. Stace’s Nix is fearless, enviably cool, and dripping with confidence AND heart. Marietta’s Atalia is daring, resourceful, and (sometimes) the voice of reason - and I always identify with seskii-people! Alex’s Cha-Cha is other-worldly, brutally honest, and hilarious. For lack of scorps, I promise to do a puppet show for myself next time I eat shrimp. Sampson’s Dili is slightly broken, angsty - with reason, poor guy - funny, and seems to need a hug. I look forward to seeing him develop into a bad-ass.
I’ve enjoyed the story so far as presented by Daniel and the awesome Explorer’s Wanted crew. The podcast makes me feel like I’m there with them as they play with wit, enthusiasm and style. You can tell they’re all having a great time. I had tried several recorded live streams as well, and most of the time there was always at least one player who either a) did not seem to have role played before and didn’t get it, b) spent more time trying to entertain watchers and and visibly reacted more to what was happening on Twitch than with the game, or c) just wasn’t very likable, which made me not want to spend hours with them. Not so with Explorers Wanted - nary a clinker in the bunch.
I had previously been listening to Explorers Wanted on Spotify, but am doing it on Apple Podcasts now only because I wanted to leave a review to let everyone know how much I’ve enjoyed what they’re doing. This is the only review that I have ever written. I will listen to anything that these fine human beings do in the future. Keep up the good work!”
