“Initially I thought this podcast would be interesting because I was familiar with their writing from ITG but instead it’s been a big dud. They don’t have the voices for podcasting (too much upspeak, vocal fry, and nasality) , most of the interviews have been incredibly boring, and the podcast is overproduced.
Not to mention, so much performative white guilt.. The podcast came on last summer during the height of the BLM protests and the hosts will often have noname black guests simply because they’re black instead of having someone on like Pat McGrath. It’s so patronizing and this white guilt helps no one. It’s especially insincere given the things Annie has said about race and being white in the past.
I know this podcast has gotten some good press but that’s because the hosts both have deep connections in the beauty and media industries. It doesn’t mean the podcast is good it’s just another manifestation of what privilege will get you.”
