Found this series late- obviously aware of the story but never actually did a deep dive. This was fun to put on for a cleaning day- ended up listening to almost the whole thing and my house is clean! The scenes were cheesy and overdone, but I could imagine that being intentional, and I didn’t...Read full review »

This is an amazing podcast that spectacularly documents the New York scandal. It is told in such a way that I could imagine that this is just a fantasy story or a villain’s backstory or something like that. I love listening to it and I love the fictionalised scenes that feature because it really...Read full review »

Loved the combination of drama, documentary, and interview…brought the story to life!

I am very impressed with this style of story telling with both scripted drama and documentary style of narration and first person accounts. Definitely recommend this

What others said: the dramatizations are very bad. Very, very bad.

After trying -and failing- to get into the Netflix version this was exactly what I was looking for. Not over the top but clearly telling the story of Anna -and keeping me entertained!- I devoured all 6 episodes today

Really appreciate the unique format of the storytelling.

Anna was intelligent, did her homework and was very cunning.I can understand her longing for success and making her dreams come true. I can also understand the people she met wanting to believe in her; but using people was inexcusable. This podcast also highlighted weaknesses in the system and...Read full review »

Story line could be okay, but the voice actors were really bad, especially Ana.

Oh, this is just a audio play (re-enactments) about the story. Not an actual journalistic approach to telling the story. Not going to listen beyond the first episode. It's all made up (I guess an homage to Anna??).Read full review »

I still think Rachel is a stupid girl!! she used her friend Anna! Anna only had intentions to have fun with her and have a friend! Anna felt lonely and had no one to turn to! Rachel and all the other girls Anna talked to are not friends they’re just money hungry jealous girls! They probably...Read full review »

Who wrote, directed and cast the re-enactments?? They all need to find other lines of work, because they’re incredibly bad at their current ones.

Still D.R.E by Dr. Dre, I have this song. The podcast I listened is great, 10 out of 10 and 5 stars, if you haven’t listened to it, you should listen to it.

Contains interviews with people actually involved with real life Anna. The re-enactments are excellent. Bottom line is where netflix left me confused, this podcast has all the answers.
Schelin1964 via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 02/26/22
An interesting story which has been cheapened by the fictional creation and enactment of conversations.
wmu via Apple Podcasts · Australia · 02/17/22
Not sure who is the biggest fake, this pod or Anna. Why did you ruin the story ? The presentation and hosts are terrible

This is a perfect companion piece to the Netflix show and you learn the actual trajectory. Highly recommend.

Loved it. So perfect. Combo of drama, actual audio clips from witnesses, and reporting.
Marge321 via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 02/08/22
The re-enactments were unfortunately so so terrible and embarrassing that I couldn’t make it through half of an episode. YIKES.

I love everything about this show. The source material is fascinating and the way the show has been produced is top notch. I love how the narration, interviews and dramatisation flow seamlessly together.

I find it crazy how she got away with so much so late in the game. We’re not talking about the 50’s and 60’s here where technology was up and coming. The banks and hotels have a lot to answer for with their protocols, that’s for sure. Incredible story!!

Cringe ville - so dumb. Where’s the credibility?

If you prefer to listen to fabricated “re-enactments” and disengaged narration, rather than new, detailed, or in-depth information, this is the true-crime podcast for you. A real shame, as the case is very interesting.

Can’t believe the depths at which people deceive other people.. How do they sleep. Wow!
MJ HALESTONES via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 11/29/21
The moral of this podcast seemed to be to fantasize over parts the journalist didn’t bother to research. This is the lowest level podcast, clearly made with very minimal effort. I’m out at episode 3. The story itself is fascinating so I hope someone else puts in the work to actually tell it in...Read full review »

I was pleasantly surprised by how good this podcast was… it’s worth a listen and definitely makes you think about the con, the con artist and those who got conned…

The story of the fake heiress is interesting and bizarre, but it’s undermined by the quality of its voice acting, which is risibly poor throughout. If you can grit your teeth and get past the sixth form play-grade reconstructions there’s a decent story underneath, but it’s a needless slog.

Annoying all of it.
ItsUNotMe27 via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 09/28/21
This felt like the bare minimum effort put into reporting and focus was instead on the “dramatics” of the “actors”. Which was as good as my quotations suggest. Good if you sleep with podcasts on at night but otherwise, pass.

It took me a while to get over the dramatisations which sound pretty awful but once I was used to them I really enjoyed this podcast. The nerve of this girl! I was an anxious mess just listening to her scams. Enjoyable and worth a listen
Alicejs via Apple Podcasts · Great Britain · 08/18/21
I found this under the fiction section. I was expecting an audiobook type podcast. It’s some sort of reenactment of a true story with “fictionalized dialogue”. Two thumbs down.

The dramatized scenes were too painful to listen to - the phony American accents sounded stilted and petulant

The podcast grows on you, give it a couple episodes. The story is a fascinating tale and the concept of the podcast production really works
Sawadee7 via Apple Podcasts · Canada · 04/15/21
Should have saved the music licensing budget and spent it on better actors and a screenwriter. Sounds like a 14 year old wrote these scenes.
alexjouve via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 04/12/21
Very interesting story, but way too much unnecessary repetition, music and other fill-ins. Storytelling is not super efficient and it’s quite frustrating to listen
