Such an amazing job of a investigative podcast!! True journalism, exposing corruption and staying true to the purpose of investigation.

I was interested in this podcast for the first half and then it became slightly boring. I don’t think it needed to be 10 episodes long.

Can’t believe I’ve never heard of this story before now. Very well done podcast and unmatched investigative reporting!!!!

Host/Journalist/Author did a phenomenal job with this podcast. I was hooked immediately. So I listened to like 3 episodes throughout that day I started it and then I told my husband I had to binge the rest. All he heard was me saying “ oh my god this story is crazy or wild or insane” lol. The...Read full review »

Wonderful Podcast. Thank you.

Great investigative reporting. A lot ask, “What has happened to investigative reporting?” This sheds a light on the journalists who are doing the work, and why their work is not being published or broadcast. This is a lesson as to why publishers must stay out of the editorial decisions so that...Read full review »

The content is great fantastic journalism and story telling. That’s the content. The container is iHeart Radio. That means there are ads. Many ads. Two to four minutes worth of ads. Every 10 minutes. Always the same ads. It’s so annoying that it makes you don’t want to listen to these...Read full review »

I stumbled upon this podcast and was gripped immediately. I couldn’t wait to listen to it. I am saddened that Carmen is still free to do work. I see that he just did a YouTube video about ophthalmology 10 months ago. How can that be? Tragedy.

This podcast is so well done. It’s easy to follow along. I couldn’t stop listening.

This is one of the best, reported stories I have had the honor of listening to.

I’m interested in the story but can barley get through it with all the long repetitive ads. It feels like 80% of the pod is ads.

The journalists and whistleblowers in this story are truly heroic. Members of the public owe them a debt a gratitude for their efforts to hold powerful people and institutions accountable. How awful that the victims and their families had to go through the abuse and trauma they suffered for so...Read full review »

It’s a very interesting story and the podcast itself is well told. My major problem was the amount of ads. The ads really take you out of the story because they occur every few minutes and last several minutes. I would say that a third of the episode is ads and 2/3 is story. That might be being...Read full review »

I give 5 stars to reporting but zero for excessive ads. 12 minutes of 45

This is one of the best podcasts I have ever listened to with one exception - the ads. The ads are an exercise in perseverance. They were long, repetitive and weirdly placed. I am sure many people missed out on a great podcast because of the ads. Thank goodness for fast forward or I would have...Read full review »

I was gripped by this storytelling from Episode 1. Highly recommend to anyone who admires truth in journalism, especially when there is no fear in unearthing tragedy, ugliness and corruption. It is beyond me how the former Editors of the L.A. Times and USC brass repeatedly chose clout, money and...Read full review »

Superb and thorough reporting, careful analysis of evidence, no over sensationalism—-just compelling storytelling. Great interviews and respectful to survivors 🙌🏽

This show is amazing! I love how the host gives so much credit to the rest of the I Team. That’s so rare in a world of true crime podcasts where the hosts are so self congratulatory. But beyond that, just an excellently done show!

This is a very well done podcast- I listened to all ten episodes in two days. Captivating and inspiring (and enraging given the subject matter and the havoc wrought upon all the victims) I listen to a lot of podcasts and this is now at the top of my list of recommendations.

Sometimes you come across a story that stay with you. This is one of those stories. Riveting, frustrating, sad, change, grateful.

I often wonder what will become of true investigative journalism in a world of sound bites and lurid true crime podcasts, but Fallen Angels restores some hope in both the newspaper industry and the podcast format.

I love true investigative reporting and this one doesn’t disappoint. Thankful to still have outlets like LA Times and a few others hanging in there to fight the good fight. Too bad iHeart Radio doesn’t have an a la carte ad-free option though, because the only drawback is the 5 mins of...Read full review »

What an incredible and horrible story. I’m glad these ethical and outstanding journalists fought for what was right even when up against people and entire systems who were determined to stop them. I’m glad they exposed these predators and the people who made it possible for them to hunt and hurt...Read full review »

So well researched, perfectly put together podcast. But really it’s just moralising about people who use drugs. Who cares? As long as he does it in private I dont have a problem with people doing drugs. He’s not hurting anyone else. Sarah was an adult getting paid for her services. Well paid.

Can’t handle the ads (frequency and quantity) and not feeling compelled to pay for ad-free (if that is even a possibility?). Dropped mid-way through episode two. Interesting story, though. I’ll read about it rather than go through this audio experience.

Thank the gods for honest, top-notch, ethical investigative journalism! May this continue to be supported. Our democracy depends on it. This is an excellent example of such. Excellent investigation and reporting. Listened the entire season without stopping. This is why we need unbiased, non-political reporting, without the influence of those who want to control the narrative.
cocoandpennysmom via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 06/12/24
Very compelling story, and would’ve given it 4/5. However, even thought I understand the importance of ads on a free service, this is like 50% ads 😫

Good podcast, ads are non-stop.

This is why the press is so important, in spite of editors at LAT attempting to undermine good reporting at every turn. Corruption is alive and well. USC and it’s enablers are a scourge. I wish more people were informed about this. we should all be disgusted

…Why is Dr Carmen Puglia Fido ungoogleable? What a creep.

I understand, trying to make money, but the intrusion of ads just while I’m getting into it really leaves me bored. Sorry, just didn’t have the patience to hear ads every five minutes. Maybe it was every seven minutes. Sounded like it could’ve been been a good story.

Excellent coverage into the investigation of successful white men whose disgusting behavior is overlooked by the university for years. Highly engaging and well told. The only missing element I needed was more theory on the why. The medical dean resigned shortly after the initial allegations, and the other dean knew the story was coming, so why not run him over with a bus and sell him out? Also, why did USC have a mob-like hold...Read full review »

Thank you, Paul for bringing this story to a podcast. I am a long time LA Times subscriber and remember when these shocking stories broke. The Pulitzer was well deserved. How sad to learn the outcome of Sarah and her brother. It seems there is no justice.

I story however the journalism exhibited by Mr. Pringle and his team is top-notch. It’s compellingly told (perhaps could have condensed into 1 or two fewer episodes) but I would absolutely listen to more investigative journalism podcasts from the LA Times
