“I have ADHD-related insomnia and listen to podcasts at night to distract my brain from all the weird random thoughts that keep me awake. It's hard to find the right combination of "interesting enough to keep my thoughts from wandering" but "not so exciting that it keeps me up." I have played all the Fallout games since Fallout 1 (except Tactics, but nobody played Tactics), most of them multiple times. So I know the lore pretty well, and that allows me to fall asleep listening to this podcast -- I don't feel like I have to worry too much about missing out on new information.
That's not to say that I haven't learned new things from this podcast -- just that it tends to be small details that I missed or maybe forgot (it happens at my age). And that's where Tom/R0b0ts really shines. He has a knack for highlighting those little sparkly bits of story that are easy to overlook, and he also draws out the thematic connections that show up across the whole series. Those connections can be hard to see when I haven't been inside Vault 13 for twenty years...I do admit that sometimes I listen to the second half of an episode the next morning just so I can hear how R0b0ts wraps it all up.
I found the Lorecast though Vault Boys WV, btw. Loved the show with Dave, and also the one with Duke from Out of the Vault. (I had to restart that one three nights in a row -- the duet of melodic baritones put me right out, but it was so darn interesting that I didn't want to miss anything.)
If I have any criticism, it's that the sound clips from the games between segments sometimes wake me up. But that's my fault for using it as a sleep aid, lol.
