good podcast!
I'm currently working on a small university project to visualize impacts of different-scenario earthquakes on Gastown. Doing the research makes me mad. I'm originating from an area with pretty frequent shaking and experienced some of it in my youth. Level of ignorance from public and government in BC is just overwhelming, people don't feel they have to prepare for something that "nobody have seen with their own eyes". As a result we have a gamble, if nothing happens in coming decades most of people will just feel smart that they did not spend money on insurance and retrofitting of places they occupy, but if any of EQ scenarious will occur, we will just see complete devastation, especially in buildings built before 1974 building code was implemented. Causalities in tens of thousands, collaps of majority of buildings and so on. Very informative podcast and it helps to communicate the message of being better-off spending some time thinking about such scenario and possible outcomes, compared to uninformed and ignorant position of "even my parents are lauging at these warnings, they've been told about this danger their entire lifetime"Read full review »

And no one talks about the massive aftershocks that could go on for months. And the consequences of those. The...Read full review »
