Well-intended. Found it too theatrical
It's really important that we plan ahead and be ready for a major seismic event here on the NW coast. And a podcast like this is a great way to get those who haven't planned to prepare. But IMO the podcast was overly dramatic, with repetitive narration that felt patronizing, sometimes wading into fear-mongering territory. Listeners get to the end of the podcast without hearing what a basic family emergency plan could sound like; if you should take proactive action in emergency situations where there is no help; how to access first aid courses; or how to jump-start community planning; how to best support first responders in crises... most of the episodes are consumed with the details of collapse and helplessness, each of the sensational details repeated three times. It had that CNN repetitive feel, and for the length of it, they could have saved us all the recapping and provided more salient info.Read full review »

A great listen all around, very informative podcast with high production value. Interviews with subject matter experts are especially insightful. Anyone living on Vancouver Island and in the lower mainland should give it a listen.

Johanna's report is top notch, and very scary. A must listen to for anyone living in Vancouver or Victoria. (Or Washington State)Read full review »
