I listen to many podcasts about WW2, and much enjoy them. However this podcast is quite different, in using unpublished memoirs and testimony. Beautifully and movingly read, sometimes bringing a tear to the eye. Well done Paul - please keep it going!

There’s literally nothing else out there quite like this podcast - it’s incredible. WWII podcasts are ten a penny, but the detail of Paul’s work and the rich personal accounts that he uses and has access to make his podcast unmatched. It’s a joy to hear Paul, who’s so passionate, share these...Read full review »

So I heard a story or a French Canadian soldier by the name of Leo major. Leo was in d-day I think Juno or sword beach maybe but it could be another beach. Anyway he was a scout and one day he was out on patrol when he ran into a German tank. So he captured the crew and drove it back to his...Read full review »

I’m writing to tell you a quick story about my grandfather. I was able to interview him before his passing in 2009. He landed at D-Day +6 or seven. He was in a replacement company. He said that they would go out on patrols to keep busy before being assigned. On one patrol, they took fire from a...Read full review »

Paul Sheall reads out memoires of different ww2 veterans in relation to his fathers experience during ww2. Many of these stories give a great insight into the experiances these men had and I find it very interesting. Plenty of WW2 podcasts out there but this is the best. Paul’s reading of the men’s own words is heartwarming and his interview with his mother was wonderful. Having a father who was in the middle of it all adds to Paul’s great work. He was kind enough to read the material I sent in about my own...Read full review »

Paul’s laidback gentle delivery makes you feel like you are there. This is quite a unique podcast and very detailed. Paul’s laconic delivery feels like someone chatting with you in a bar. But imagine that bar is in Dunkirk in 1940 or Normandy in 1944. This is a special podcast for fans of 20th...Read full review »

I’ve been a student of WW2 since I was 6 years old .
