A pleasure to dive into the mythical past whilst living through a mythological present!
I've been loving Kevin's exploration of Irish myth and folktales, as well as his infectious enthusiasm for their sources and his own journey to uncover and retell them. I started right back at episode one and am now just starting the Fenian Cycle. As a Celt who grew up in England, I'm also really appreciating learning how to pronounce more Irish words and names too! In these bizarre and frightening pandemic times, it's so good to go deep into the past and be reminded that scary times are not new... And nor is human endurance and ingenuity. Thank you Kevin for your considerable work, learning and passion and your commitment to this podcast. Please keep at it!Read full review »

I was a little late to the fireside podcast, I just started listening in March 2020. I listen most mornings and have just started The Tain in the Ulster cycle. Kevin is a great storyteller and writer. I love his adaptations and his commentary giving more color after he tells each story.

I’ve been enjoying this podcast so much! It’s a real pleasure to sit back and take a little bit of time out to hear these stories brought to life, and interesting to find out more about the possible origins.
