These guys totally misunderstood this show in the most thorough way possible. They spend literally no time discussing onscreen performance and interplay or cinematography, and spend the entire time parsing irrelevant minutae of the setting from a real world believability standpoint. Which is...Read full review »

Kicking off an entire everything Watchmen re-watch/re-read. So interesting to go back and listen to the takes knowing this all came out before Black Lives/ pandemic happened and the show became so prophetic.

Jim and ARon are awesome! Love these guys! I especially love their coverage of The Leftovers. That’s up there with Show Hoppers and Post Show Recaps as my favorite coverage of my favorite series.

Great podcast - makes a fantastic show all the more fascinating. Teases out historical context and connections in a thoughtful and careful way to really illuminate the layers and depth of the show and the work of Lindelof and his team.

I’ve been listening to this podcast to try to understand some of the watchmen background after watching the show with no knowledge of the graphic novels or movies. The podcast does a really good job deep diving into these concepts and tying them back to the concepts of the graphic...Read full review »

Thank you all for doing yet another excellent TV podcast. Your coverage is my favorite and I’m glad you picked up this show.

You guys should do an entire Episode just on Dr Manhattan’s perception of time. It’s the most interesting thing in Watchmen, Book, Movie or show.

This podcast is hosted by two people with background knowledge of the graphic novel and Damon Lindelof projects - the right combination of “Watchmen” info + skepticism towards Lindelof makes for thoughtful episodes every week. Each episode includes a scene-by-scene discussion, listener feedback,...Read full review »

The point of view of this podcast episode is bias to the commentators experienced with the history of “Black Wall Street and its shows. The attack on Black Wall Street is a well documented act of terrorism on U.S. soil. In order to have a deeper reference to these episodes you need a broader...Read full review »

Hm
I don’t understand why they are even making a podcast on this? They clearly are not enjoying watching and analyzing it, why put your lack of imagination and research on this series out into the world?

I’m not sure how it’s possible, but the hosts miss all the nuance of the show and make inappropriate jokes about racism, which is a little tone deaf and really incredible considering the subject matter of the show. Everything is also “weird”. Lame analysis and obviously just a check for them. If...Read full review »

I used to be a huge fan of these guys. I was even a club member for a few years. However, in the last couple years, the more I listened, the less I enjoyed. So I took 6 months off and tried again but to no avail. The Cons just outweigh the Pros. Pros ARon and Jim have been friends for a long...Read full review »

I’ve listened to their other podcast. My main issue with them is that they base their thoughts/feelings on fan theories. If they don’t come to fruition, they get upset. Or if they do happen, they complain that it was too easy to figure out. Maybe base your opinions on the official content and...Read full review »

@BaldMove lol just listening to the latest podcast from last nights episode and it seems like you guys are a little upset you didn’t get the answers that you wanted NOW instead of enjoying the ride. Listening to the instant take is starting to feel like the equivalent of having your mom tell you to quiet down during a fun sleepover with your friends. Every episode seems to be “too weird”? Had to unsubscribe.

Thanks! Started watching Watchmen with the HBO series. Definitely helped explain the show and made me a big fan. HBO owes you a debt of gratitude for keeping people like me watching :)

To be completely honest, their insights are lacking for me. For example, they mention the title of the last episode “little fear of lightening” as a Verne quote, but don’t put together that it’s obviously a reference to Wayne’s fear of another squid attack and his shattered belief that...Read full review »

Hosts don’t know basic facts evident in episodes and thus draw conclusions without basis. Approach to understanding the themes of terror and it’s effects on survivors is infected with ill-informed libertarian bias. They think the show is about “race conspiracy” and “9-11 satire” which is a...Read full review »

The commentators do not have much imagination, do not appear to have read many books, but they can speak without interjecting “like” into every sentence. They are disturbed by anything they think is “weird” they are bogged down trying to understand everything literally.

Bringing so much more than an understanding of the background material, Jim and A.Ron a perfectly suited to discuss this show. The community brings it too - the feedback is a third insightful voice that finds the few Leftovers they miss.

The level of detail they go into is great. But they’re making the mistake of assuming that anyone watching Watchmen is as “woke” as them. It’s possible that Watchmen is showing us the pros and cons of that way of thinking.

Ive been listening to the Bald Moves guys for years now, over several shows, and typically like their style and analysis. I listen to nearly everything these guys do. I started around 4 years ago w the Walking Dead then GoT and I’ll even listen to the shows I don’t watch- like the Deuce or Rick and Morty. Adding Cecily makes it even better. Jim, A-Ron get on board with Succession please and thank you!
