Need a bit more from this
I've always agreed with Frank Warren that Prince Naseem could've been the greatest. He was a great as it is, but if you're going to get a boxer on the show looking back at their career and life, as a journalist you've got to give us the warty side of things too. Ok, I wasn't expecting the Prince to discuss his time in prison, well documented. But on the boxing side of things, the gradual estrangement from Warren as his brothers began to interfere more and more in his career, the breakdown with Ingle and the contribution to the erosion of what were absolutely incredible boxing skills, that ultimately led to the Prince relying on his fearsome power rather than the other Inglesque skills that had set him apart as very different. I saw this guy's whole career, from his amateur days and to this day, I've never seen anyone like him. I was telling all my boxing friends about him in the early 90s before he turned pro. As incredible as the Prince was, he could've done even more, so why didn't that happen? You don't really get that and this tends to happen on Fight Night too where boxers previously criticised, fairly, on earlier episodes, don't get tackled over any negatives they might possess (as we all do) when they finally come on the show. I don't want to listen to fluff pieces. So we know he put on the weight before the Barrera fight and we know he shouldn't have taken that fight. But why did he put on the weight? The trouble behind the scenes ahead of the KK fight in New York in '97 definitely impacted on the Prince. That guy wasn't someone who would get clipped but suddenly it happened and even though he won in explosive fashion, his aura of invincibility was punctured. I appreciate some guests may not want the more challenging interviews, but these questions would've been fair and would've made for a better show. Yes, the Prince was sharp on this podcast and funny, but I'd like to have seen some of the lowpoints, that arguably stopped a great boxer from perhaps being regarded as one of the all-time greats, tackled.Read full review »

Great podcast. No frills, no holds barred. Welled up a little with the Fury interview. Gained some more respect for Piers Morgan after this latest one. Frank and Adam are knocking it out of the park.
