Thanks for this interesting episode. I have a pot of Shoji Hamada which he gave to my father. It’s on my bookshelf. The Japan Folk Craft Museum has a beautiful collection of Leach pottery. The connection between British and Japanese seems to have extended over many years. Issey Miyake used Lucy Rie’s ceramic buttons in one of his collections. Many years ago there was a tremendous exhibition of British crafts in Tokyo which was well attended. A mutual appreciation of the aesthetic in every day life.
