Kirsty Wark is a poor appointment
Kirsty Wark — seriously? This latest appointment reveals how little respect the BBC has for the arts. I’m so tired of BBC shows replacing people with serious expertise in their field with random “name” presenters. What does Wark know about the arts? Nothing, if her first shows are anything to go by — and it shows. For years we’ve had to put up Jim Naughtie presenting the sole Radio Four book programme as if covering literature is just a nice retirement job anyone can do after covering politics. It’s an embarrassingly low-brow show. We’ve had the once-excellent Media Show, previously presented by such media experts as Steve Hewlett (RIP) and Amol Rajan now inexplicably presented by Ros Atkins and Katie Razzle. The Radio Three schedule has been rendered risible by the recent appointments of Jools Holland et al. On TV we have Wimbledon presented by a Claire Balding who knows about horse-racing, but not tennis. And now we have Kirsty Wark here struggling to talk about the arts and mispronouncing the names of renowned actors. Lack of knowledge shows: you really cannot have just anybody presenting anything. If they sack Tom Sutcliffe, I’ll just stop listening.

Great hosts and guests. The conversation is always intelligent without being pedantic or pretensions.

Fantastic show, I download it daily, but the iPhone OS checks each & every episodes status. Would it be possible to list the show twice, firstly with the last weeks programs & the back catalogue separately?
