Essential listening
This outstanding series should be essential listening for anyone working or studying journalism or working with the media. It raises crucial questions about the role of the journalist in holding those in power to account, fact-checking, veracity and the reality of maintaining impartiality. Every episode could form the basis of a series of lectures and questions about the issues raised. It demonstrates the very best of the BBC. As a former graduate of International Journalism, it gives me hope and makes me optimistic for the future of great journalism and the role it plays in exposing lies and untruths. The big question: must journalists wanting to get to the truth and hold power to account work from within or must they by necessity work outside the establishment. Jeremy Bowen makes his position clear.
