I’ve come back to this marvelous podcast from about a year ago to listen again to its episodes about the conundrums and dilemmas of being a responsible journalist and I’m struck by the notion that its pertinence will never fade. If I were a teacher of journalism, the podcast would be on my...Read full review »

As always JB analyses , condenses and vacuum packs a huge subject into a well balanced and informative short space. A true pro and alone worth the BBC licence fee. Keep him active

I have been following Jeremy’s journalism for over 30 years. He continues to educate and enthral me with his reports. This podcast is a perfect antidote to the quick tabloid journalism which seems to dominate the landscape. Thank you Jeremy.

Halfway through this series and thoroughly enjoying it. I also used to work for the BBC and many of these episodes take me back. But it’s also fascinating for for non-journalists.

Excellent podcast and covering an important topic usually not discussed in current affairs podcasts. I got the reference from Saturday Extras in Australia but this is relevant for anyone, anywhere, interested in good journalism. Thoroughly recommend it. A Masterclass from Jeremy Bowen. All journalist and wannabe journalists (and tweeters) need to listen to this. Bowen leans on his decades of experience, reporting from the world’s war torn hotspots and delves into what it takes to tell the truth. A brave series from the BBC, bravo ! 5 stars.

As a journalist/activist, I like this pod a lot. Of course no one is totally impartial as you say. Still telling the truth is vital. And in context. It’s hard to hear Piers Morgan’s voice. Ever.

Fascinating, eye-popping in parts and detailed - not an evisceration of the trade but a warning. But I’m probably biased.

Gripping. I’m only a few episodes in but enjoying this very much indeed. Bowen’s confident narrative exudes gravitas and conviction. This is intelligent radio and a necessary riposte to the shrill demands for a simplistic balance and easily achieved impartiality. The pursuit of journalistic truth...Read full review »
