Intelligent Radio
Gripping. I’m only a few episodes in but enjoying this very much indeed. Bowen’s confident narrative exudes gravitas and conviction. This is intelligent radio and a necessary riposte to the shrill demands for a simplistic balance and easily achieved impartiality. The pursuit of journalistic truth is beset by complexity and Bowen draws upon his considerable experience in the field and is honest in weighing and illustrating the difficulties of making professional judgements. There’s a good medley of voices and reported events - always thoughtful, often painful and moving. More of this high quality of material from the BBC please.

A Masterclass from Jeremy Bowen. All journalist and wannabe journalists (and tweeters) need to listen to this. Bowen leans on his decades of experience, reporting from the world’s war torn hotspots and delves into what it takes to tell the truth. A brave series from the BBC, bravo ! 5 stars.

Halfway through this series and thoroughly enjoying it. I also used to work for the BBC and many of these episodes take me back. But it’s also fascinating for for non-journalists.
