Hosts in an echo-chamber
After listening to a few episodes (one recommended to me by Clementine and then following along and listening to a few of the episodes mentioned within) I can’t say I learned anything from this podcast, or gained new insights. Whip open just about any criticism on so called “cancel culture” and you’ll be listening to a repetition of the episodes here, or likely vice versa, as I am guessing many of those criticisms came first. The hosts repeated generalizations and sharing of opinions as facts, many of which I could disprove with my lived experiences, was bizarre and frustrating. The only point they made that I could agree with based off my experiences is that violent people can escalate when publicly held accountable. This can be organized against in advance. I understand, it is very easy to think you’re right and saying profound things all the time when you belittle and block anyone who disagrees with you, which is exactly what Clementine did when I shared my thoughts, but that doesn’t make you right. In future I think the hosts should actually listen to the people they disagree with in such disrespect and condescension, and then they may say something that actually helps victims and survivors who are left with a broken judicial systems or a hateful victim blaming anti-“cancel culture” public and literally no way to keep violent abusers, racists, snitches, accountable.

This was really educational for me. I have sensed cancel culture is dangerous, but I’m not hugely involved in cancel culture due to being nearly 40. But this was super helpful in understanding better. And I love how you negotiated how left and right should talk with each other.
