“Mr. Jacobs, I am an admirer of your creative critiques and earnest attempts to fix the show with slight adjustments. However, one of your proposals is - probably unintentionally - lifted from another work.
Having the Night King be responsible for false visions about a relative’s capture - leading to a dangerous, rescue mission - would be cool. However, it is in fact the exact set of events which lead to the climax of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix.
I doubt you lifted the idea on purpose, rather having just forgotten about it. However, had the season actually be written and aired as you suggest, internet crowd-sourcing would have immediately made this connection and memed it to no end.
This example illustrates my belief that you are often quite hard on a very enjoyable show without acknowledging the difficulty of:
1) creating a satisfying narrative, true to its characters, world, internal prophesies, and pre-destined endgame WHILE
2) constantly having to avoid the inadvertent repetition of any aspect of several generations of fantasy storytelling.”
