Great podcast ... when they remember the point is to teach the listener.
This podcast is hugely entertaining and informative. Jason and Ashley have a great back-and-forth, and their knowledge can't be beat. Whether they're talking about a topic that you are already familiar with or something you know nothing about, you will come away having learned something and been entertained at the same time. Plus it's very funny. So why am I only giving them 3 stars? Well, the episodes where they pick a subject and teach the listeners about that subject are great. But they have started to do more episodes where they don't teach the listeners anything and just talk about things they would do in hypothetical situations, or discuss their favorite things. For example, they have done these episodes: - Create their ideal X-Men team - What they would do if they ran DC Comics - What they would do if they ran the Doctor Who show - Their favorite DW companion - Their favorite DW villain - Their favorite DW doctor Were these particular episodes informative? Not really. They talked about subjects as if the listeners already knew everything they were talking about. I was mostly lost in the "if we ran DC Comics" episode because I didn't know most of the characters they discussed, and was completely lost during the "if we ran Doctor Who" episode. I am not a fan of DW. All I know about it is that it exists so I was looking forward to an episode where they explained it like their episodes on other topics I don't know anything about (like Divergent or Teen Wolf, two informative and entertaining episodes). Instead their first DW episode completely lost me because they discussed the show as if all the listeners were DW viewers; it didn't teach me anything about the show or the character. I tried listening to the other three DW episodes but realized they weren't going to try to teach me anything either (yes, all four of these Doctor Who episodes came out in a row; if you were already a Doctor Who fan and knew everything about the show I'm sure you loved these episodes, but for me they left me confused and lost about what they were talking about and I ended up skipping them). I understand that podcasts sometime do a different type of episode once in a while, but usally it's an anniversary episode, once a year. This podcast is less-than a year old and they have already done this other type of non-teaching episode six times (and four of them in a row? Not everone is a DW fan, teach us about the show instead of talking only to those who are already fans). When this podcast follows its format and teaches the listeners about a topic, it's great and everyone can enjoy it. But when they discuss topics talking only to listeners that already know about that subject, or discuss hypothetical situations that don't teach the listeners anything, I suppose those episode are great if you already know about that subject, but otherwise there's nothing there for you. Here's hoping they stick to their stated format and do what they do best - teach the listeners about a subject.Read full review »

I listen to podcasts at work and this is one I can not because Jason just yells over and over again into his mic. If he would calm down maybe I would give it more of a try but its just too annoying to have to keep turning it up and down.

De to værter er sjove og man kan mærke at de brænder for de emner de taler om. Emnerne går fra tegneserier, film og tvserier, og ofte er det emner der har en relevans på tværs af de tre emneområder. Giv det en chance, det kan kun overraske. :)
