Hometown below!
Back in the 90s, I lived in rural Colorado. One night while in high school, I dropped a friend off at her home. It was around 10 pm and very very dark. The area I'm referring to is Eastern Colorado where there are no stores or many street lights, just miles and miles of road and fields. As I was driving home, I saw something in the road that looked like a man. As I got closer, I could see it was an older man in overalls, he sort of looked like a farmer. It is normal to see farmers in this part of CO but not normal to see farmers standing in the middle of the road at 10pm. He was so visible that I began honking my horn to make him get out of the way but he would not budge. I was driving fast and getting closer but the man would not move. As I approached the man, I sort of swerved to get of his way and when I slowed down, looked in the rearview, he had disappeared. He was completely gone, totally and completely gone. I stepped on the gas and drove home as fast as I could. The next day I told my friends about it and one of them told me this story they heard. Apparently, 100 years before my incident there was a flood that rushed through that area and destroyed many farms and killed many farmers. The man I saw that night was probably one of those unfortunate souls who was condemned to haunt these roads late at night. So of course, during the next day, I took my friends over to the area where I saw the man. I would love to say we saw or felt something but there was nothing there other than road and fields. After that day though, I refused to drive on that road after dark because I was convinced that if I saw him once, I would see him again!
Cheers,
Candace formerly from CO and currently in Brooklyn!”Read full review »
