I LOVE THIS POD
Roz is amazing- guests are AMAZING - and here’s a hometown urban legend from my rural MO town! There’s an old, beautiful, 1800s mansion that’s been empty for years just outside of my small town. The local teens would always go in and tell stories about how creepy it was and that sparked two of the twenty-something- former-jock high school teachers to go check it out. They went in and everything in the upstairs was still furnished- there was a water stain in the wall that looked like a face which is creepy but whatever, and in the main upstairs bedroom there was a box of old letters from what they thought was a father to a son basically like damning him to hell and describing a long table set for a feast where all the food was rotten and as they’re reading aloud the bed frame breaks and the bed (fully made) and frame crash to the ground. Needless to say, no number of years playing sports/lifting weights prepares you for meeting a ghost and they RUN out of there and the next day at school tell the story- students tell their siblings and every year it’s just like a legend that classes request to hear. So however many years later the haunted mansion on the highway is still legendary and for a senior project I decided to do local legends/myths and make a video with the history and truth of a few different local lores. I went to a “haunted” cemetery, a cry baby bridge, and did research and Interviews but I really wanted to get an interview and possible tour of the house. I went to the courthouse and into the public records hall and searched all the information about the house and it’s previous and current owners. The lady working the desk said she had a connection to the old woman who currently owned the house (all rural people are connected by a cousin’s friend’s husband’s mom obvi) and called her, let her know I had some questions for her, and put me on. I told her I was working on a video project that was disproving local myths and asked to interview her and I swear the lady turned from little grandma to someone who could have come from a James Wan movie- she immediately went completely cold and said “Do not go near that house. Do not talk about that house. Don’t call this number again” and the line went dead. TERRIFYING.

First off, I LOVE this podcast!! It kills me that it’s only one day a week! I have only one ghost story but it’s always stuck with me. I might seem cliche but it’s what really happened. I grew up in the same house age 0-17 in phoenix Arizona. One night when I was about 13/14, I was having...Read full review »
