Gibraltar's Coroner's Court will open an inquest touching on the death of Simon Parkes, the sailor who disappeared in Gibraltar on the 12th December 1986. The Minister for Justice, Nigel Feetham, has given his consent. This follows a campaign by GBC Journalist Ros Astengo, with the support of lawyers acting on a pro-bono basis, to help bring justice for his family.
Over the course of the morning the MET office issued a weather advisory for heavy rain from ten this morning until one tomorrow night. A separate heavy rain warning may be issued if the total rainfall is expected to be more than 50 millimetres in six hours. We spoke to Principal Meteological Officer, Katy Lowe.
The Police Federation says a strong message needs to be sent out to anyone who believes they can use violence against emergency service and care workers with no more than a slap on the wrist. The police union says officers dedicate their lives to protecting the public and all they ask in return is to be protected in return.
