“Listening is complete joy. The tone is perfectly balanced which is a testament to the intelligence and care of the hosts. They are hilarious when it comes to tearing into the ridiculous and down-right dumb aspects and products of porn and then on a dime can turn and be meditative and brilliant on the parts that require thoughtfulness---the centering of female pleasure, the complexities of power dynamics, the psychological origins of kinks, the history of human sexuality. The best description is that it's like sitting in the most interesting grad seminar of your life with breaks for laughing until your crying. If you're a fan of porn in any way it feels absolutely essential but even if your not it turns out discussing porn is actually a very useful vehicle for talking about gender dynamics, human desire, and a lot of other vital and fascinating things that come up when you're just living in the world. I also love that the hosts don't keep themselves at a remove from the porn they are reviewing. They can step back and critique the hell out of it in a thousand smart ways but they also come back to---did this turn me on? why or why not? I think for women in particular it's wonderful to hear them talk about female desire without shame. Guys have been talking about jerking off forever, but there's still this stigma around women owning their own sexuality.
