“I was frustrated listening to the other BBC podcast, Newspod. About 1/4 of the stories on that Podcast were pertaining to the UK. Not complaining, since it is a UK based company, just frustrating to listen to stories about parking tickets in London (yadi yada), with no easy way to skip to the next story. The 'Global News' podcast is far more interesting for world news, though the other BBC podcast, Newspod, sounds a bit more polished in production. I have to disagree with other people's comments that the BBC is 'unbiased' in reporting. The BBC does a great job of journalism, but there are definitely subtle opinions shining through. I consider myself a liberal, and the BBC definitely has a liberal slant to news presentation. The easiest way to pick up on the 'editorial' is to just analyze the 'average' so called expert interviewed to augment stories. Usually that experts opinion is the editorial, 'bias' subtly shinning through. Just watch Fox News for an hour to understand what I'm talking about. I find the BBC to in line with typical NPR type of news. I listen to many podcasts on news and read newspapers as well. I find this podcast to be a bit lacking in news presentation from the perspective of markets and business, but has strengths in world politics and humanistic stories of life in the emerging economies/developing world; simply put more of a news source in line with the NY Times and not the Wall Street Journal.”Read full review »
