Love this podcast. Only downside is I wish there were more seasons/stories. Very well done! Please keep it up!

Sad stories but Jed tells them with compassion and integrity. His voice is easy to listen to. He thoroughly covers his stories.

But these are really great stories & so interesting to pull back that curtain on the south.

So good- gripping show with twists and turns and a delicate and empathetic approach to the real characters involved

Season 3 was such an important story to Tell, and you do so with great respect For all involved. Thank you!

First and third seasons were incredible and bingeable. Second season was fascinating but the storytelling was bogged down by the crazy detail. I found myself having to skip back minutes, realizing I stopped listening, but eventually gave up.

with intriguing investigations. Gone South has excellent production quality. The stories are concise, not drawn out and all over the place. Looking forward to season 4 dropping!

I tried the first episode of season 3 and gave up after the third round of ads in the first 15 minutes. I understand podcasters need to make money. However, when half of a half hour episode is ads, intro, a few minutes of episode and more ads, content, more ads, etc it is excruciating to listen...Read full review »

I love the clean, concise format. The interviews and information pulled from the various sources shows the dedication to the project. I really enjoy the narration-great voice.

I’m really enjoying season 3 (as I did season 1 and 2) but there’s no way to access the full season. So I’m unsure if this is a current active season happening now, being released weekly, etc. or if there’s a glitch somewhere. I hope it’s a glitch because I cannot wait to finish the whole season!...Read full review »

I have devoured every season of this, and it’s been so, so great. S3, however, is about 20 minutes of episode and 10 minutes of ads and music, and I’ve lost my connection to it. I can’t keep track of the story because I never get into it before it’s over. This is such a shame! When telling...Read full review »

Towards the end of this episode there are 2 places where the feed glitches and the story feels incomplete.

The show claims that by downloading the Audacy app you will get access to the entire season three. This is not true. As of right now, on both Apple podcasts and Audacy, there are only two episodes available. I assume that the producers will address this.

Excellent in all respects, professional production values, intelligent analysis. Completely devoid of the trashiness and exploitation that plagues this genre.

Thank you for presenting such a tragically fascinating story. A thoroughly researched case-study. The writing is top-shelf. 5 Stars. Josepk K.

Investigative journalism at its best combined with quality in depth storytelling. Certainty, speculation, and assumption are misleading. What do you know for sure.....

I’ve enjoyed both seasons, but I cannot get past the mispronunciation of Pete’s name! It’s Huh-lette, not Hal’-ette. Every person interviewed says it correctly. (INCLUDING PETE!) I think it’s worth re-cutting the audio on this in order for it to be presented with the correct pronunciation....Read full review »

Better than stalking social media, with heaps of juicy details and suspense. Personal, professional and persistent. Well played, from start to finish… you’ll be hooked. A+

Season 1: The Cheech & Chong beginning is absolutely bizarre and is unlike the rest of the podcast. What an odd decision to make in the editing process. I almost turned it off. BUT, once you get past that it gets better. I think the host and editors find their groove after a few episodes and...Read full review »

Loved both seasons. The content was interesting and the narration and pacing was perfect. I was on the edge of my seat the whole time. Season 2 was even better than season 1, and I really hope there’s a season 3.

One of my friends recommended I listen to this podcast, and prefaced it like this: “This show is like sitting on your grandma’s couch and listening to her and all your great aunts gossiping about people in town.” I absolutely loved how the hosts put the stories together, and they did a very...Read full review »

I love both seasons of your podcast! When I came across Gone South, I binged the whole podcast! I couldn’t get enough. The first time I heard about the Dixie mafia was through another podcast called In The Red Clay. Also another very good podcast. Keep up your amazing writing and I’ll keep...Read full review »

I find myself almost hungry for the next detail. i listen when i’m in my car because i have the most peace here. i literally can’t get enough. the way everything is laid out is absolutely perfect.
Wendy D9686 via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 05/26/23
The Dixie mafia stuff is interesting. Lots of (far too much IMO) conjecture & speculation. Needed a ruthless editor at the writing stage, which it obviously didn’t have.

From Australia many thanks for a great story that’s well told. The characters come out and keep you wanting more

Love the podcast. I listened to another one about the Dixie Mafia. Have you heard of Billy Sunday Birt? He was part of it as well from what I’ve listened to.

Outstanding and of interest to those living in Louisiana/New Orleans (season 1) and the Louisiana/Mississippi area (season 2) but also of interest to those who like true crime, history, and a professional podcast.

Listened to the first season, how boring. Nothing substantial or new was even discovered. What a waste of everyone’s time.

Totally entertaining and well done. Where some podcasts go over the same info repeatedly, this is not the case here. Narration is fantastic and the storytelling is 👍👍. Great job

Extremely interesting and well narrated. Never heard of this before and would definitely listen to more seasons regarding Dixie mafia crime and characters.

Jeesh, my fourth straight investigative podcast with NO resolution. Roughly eight hours I’ll never get back. Oh well. I should just search the story first and save my time, but I remain hopeful that one of these will grab me by the short hairs … /M.

Love the show but half the episodes won’t load or work and then stop playing half through. Tried multiple platforms and all have the same issue
fusiahavshsnfv via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 12/18/22
Probably my favorite podcast I’ve listened to (especially season Two). Would love to hear more about Mike Gillich and other Dixie Mafia figures from various other states. There is a ton of history there that no one has looked all that that deeply into.
Witty Russell Clayton via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 12/18/22
Love the show. But please don’t read all show credits every episode. Put it in the show notes or and end of season. It hurts the podcast. Can you imagine if authors did that?
JonGaltpilot via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 12/16/22
After listening to both seasons, I’m left wishing for more. I can’t wait to hear what case they dig up for next season! The detail and true journalism that has gone into these podcasts are phenomenal. I love how witnesses from season one are pulled back into season two, as fully relevant...Read full review »
