Text: Proverbs 4:10-19 (ESV)   10 Hear, my son, and accept my words, that the years of your life may be many. 11 I have taught you the way of wisdom; I have led you in the paths of uprightness. 12 When you walk, your step will not be hampered, and if you run, you will not stumble. 13 Keep hold of instruction; do not let go; guard her, for she is your life. 14 Do not enter the path of the wicked, and do not walk in the way of the evil. 15 Avoid it; do not go on it; turn away from it and pass on. 16 For they cannot sleep unless they have done wrong; they are robbed of sleep unless they have made someone stumble. 17 For they eat the bread of wickedness and drink the wine of violence. 18 But the path of the righteous is like the light of dawn, which shines brighter and brighter until full day. 19 The way of the wicked is like deep darkness; they do not know over what they stumble.   WISDOM IS YOUR LIFE   By living according to God’s wisdom, people will have true freedom, and at the same time will be morally upright (v.10-13). 10 Hear, my son, and accept my words, that the years of your life may be many. 11 I have taught you the way of wisdom; I have led you in the paths of uprightness.   The way of the wise won’t be hampered. That is, it is secured, although it is through the narrow way.[Mat 7:13-14] 12 When you walk, your step will not be hampered, and if you run, you will not stumble.   Wisdom is personified once again as the woman who guards his life. 13 Keep hold of instruction; do not let go; guard her, for she is your life.   The wise will not join in the evil deeds of those whose thoughts and actions are governed by the desire to do wrong (v. 14-17). He has to avoid by all means the farthest that he can from sin.[v.14,15] he is not to engage in the counsel of the ungodly.[Psa 1:1] 14 Do not enter the path of the wicked, and do not walk in the way of the evil. 15 Avoid it; do not go on it; turn away from it and pass on.   Why? Sin is relentless to make the naive stumble. [1 Pet 5:8] And, there is a fearful state of debasement. There is no rest or repose in sin. Doing wickedness and violence for evil people are as eating and drinking to sinners. They are unconscionable. 16 For they cannot sleep unless they have done wrong; they are robbed of sleep unless they have made someone stumble. 17 For they eat the bread of wickedness and drink the wine of violence.   The more people do what is right, the better they understand life; the more they do wrong, the more confused their understanding becomes. As God’s child, the wise does “walk in the light as He is in the Light,” In contrast, the sons of the devil revel in “the works of darkness.” Consequently, their mistakes become more frequent and more disastrous (v. 18-19). 18 But the path of the righteous is like the light of dawn, which shines brighter and brighter until full day. 19 The way of the wicked is like deep darkness; they do not know over what they stumble.   Listen and FOLLOW us on our podcast ------------------------- Visit and FOLLOW Gospel Light Filipino on YouTube, Facebook and Instagram
