Text: Prov 8:32-36 ESV 32 “And now, O sons, listen to me: blessed are those who keep my ways. 33 Hear instruction and be wise, and do not neglect it. 34 Blessed is the one who listens to me, watching daily at my gates, waiting beside my doors. 35 For whoever finds me finds life and obtains favor from the Lord, 36 but he who fails to find me injures himself; all who hate me love death.” - Prov 8:32-36 ESV BLESSED ARE THOSE WHO KEEP MY WAYS Blessedness is neither in being informed nor in paying mental assent to God’s instruction. It is in keeping His words and not neglect it. Should we hear and obey His words, we will enjoy success in what we do for God's glory (Jos 1:7–8; Psa 1:1–3). Once more, wisdom pleads sons to listen to her [v.32-33]. In what way? He is to listen attentively with much anticipation.[v.34] 34 Blessed is the one who listens to me, watching daily at my gates, waiting beside my doors. They resemble students who wait for the gates of their school to open or someone who is waiting at his door for an important visitor or message. Receiving and rejecting wisdom do result in blessedness and blight, respectively. 35 For whoever finds me finds life and obtains favor from the Lord, 36 but he who fails to find me injures himself; all who hate me love death.” The word "blessed" means happy. People seek happiness in a variety of sources. Some look for happiness in personal relationships, in money or success, in popularity or fame or in illicit pleasure. But true, lasting happiness is found only in Jesus. He spoke of His joy—full joy—coming to those who keep His commandments. The apostle John says in John 15:10–11; “10 If you keep my commandments, you will abide in my love, just as I have kept my Father's commandments and abide in his love. 11 These things I have spoken to you, that my joy may be in you, and that your joy may be full.” ------------------------- Visit and FOLLOW Gospel Light Filipino on YouTube, Facebook and Instagram
