“I just started listening to this a few weeks ago, and I’m now up to season 2. I am loving the format, with a combination of long-time Babylon 5 fanatics, a couple of people who’ve seen the show but never obsessed about it, and a few who have never seen the show at all and know nothing about it (including one who’s never watched any sci-fi beyond “one of the Star Wars”).
Those last are my favorite. It’s so much fun hearing all the impressions and speculations again, like we went through 30 years ago when the show was new. They’re going episode by episode, and it’s been fun watching each (for at least the dozenth time) before listening to the podcast for that episode.
Each episode is in two parts - one that includes all the newbies , with no spoilers beyond the episode being discussed, then a second part with only those who’ve watched before discussing how everything fits into the larger story.
It’s an awfully fun podcast, as well. The participants seem like old friends (which, I guess, several of them are) just nerding out after each episode. The fact that a couple of them hated the show, or hated my favorite characters in it, just adds to the fun, as I kept wanting to say “Oh, just wait… you’ll see.””
