Before All Others
There are about a zillion bad movie podcasts, but most of them are hosted by people who hate movies. Their only joy seems to be watching crappy old films and tearing them apart from every angle. Sure, old movies are easy targets, and it's easy to judge them by the standards of today. But this is not entirely fair. There are a many bitter out-of-work would-be comedians whose only release in life is lashing out. But not these guys. Mike and Chris seem to genuinely love these crappy old movies, and they delve into the history and lore surrounding each one. Connections to other movies are noted where possible, and there's plenty of time discussing each film in depth. This is a good podcast, and I listen even when I myself despise the film being discussed. I do have a suggestion, though. If you guys can find it, I'd love you to watch and review the 1985 (or 86) film Hell Squad, about a group of Vegas showgirls who become a fighting force of extraordiary magnitude. There are many boobs and explosions. It's pretty much a ripoff of the 1973 Ted V. Mikels film The Doll Squad, which was allegedly the uncredited basis for the Charlie's Angels TV series.Read full review »
