“It's a solid podcast for fans of the films, with intelligent analysis, new information, and good conversation. It stokes my love of the series and makes me laugh quite a bit.
That said, I do think the structure prevents commentary on the story and overall quality of the film. The hosts often end up talking around the movie, dissecting individual characters and certain scenes, but sometimes missing the opportunity to comment on bigger themes.
I also wish there was a female presence on the show. The Halloween movies are super interesting in how they deal with women and femininity, but those topics don't get discussed or, if they are raised, they're sort of dismissed as uninteresting or not important.
Finally, the hosts are surprisingly sensitive to criticism from fans, which is weird and sort of approaches a Star-Wars-fans level of defensiveness. They can just come off a bit reactive and entitled, and I like my podcast hosts a bit more chill and above the fray.
That said, I continue to enjoy it and definitely enjoy the Losers' Club as well. These few criticisms have diminished my enthusiasm a bit, but I still count myself a fan.”Read full review »
